Scan to Sign: QR Codes for Mobile Signing

Some documents are easier to sign on a phone. A signature drawn with your finger looks more like an actual signature than one traced with a trackpad, and plenty of signers are away from their desk when the request lands. Firma.dev now lets signers move from desktop to mobile in one scan.

When QR codes are enabled, the signing page shows a QR icon in the toolbar. The signer clicks it, scans the code with their phone camera, and the same signing session opens on mobile. They draw their signature by touch and finish from there. Start on your computer, scan, and pick up exactly where you left off on your phone. No new link to email, no separate login, no lost progress.

Where this helps

Picture an onboarding flow where a customer starts a contract on their laptop but wants to sign with a real signature. Or a sales rep sitting across from a client who needs to sign on the spot. Instead of fumbling with a mouse or forwarding the document somewhere, they scan and sign on the device that's already in their hand. The desktop and mobile sessions stay in sync, so the signer keeps everything they entered on the computer and finishes on the phone without redoing a thing.

Senders get options too. From the signing request detail sheet, you can view and share a per-signer QR code or copy a direct signing link, which is handy when you're walking someone through a signature over a call.

Turning it on

The QR code is controlled by a single setting, show_qr_code, and it cascades. Set it once at the company level and every workspace inherits it. Override it per workspace when a specific flow needs different behaviour. A null value just inherits from the level above.

It's off by default for existing companies, so nothing changes in your current flows until you switch it on. New companies get it on out of the box. Full field reference is in the workspace settings API docs and the v1.26.0 changelog.
