What's New in Firma.dev: Split PDF Downloads, Multi-Script Signatures, and More

We shipped a bunch of updates over the past few weeks. Here's what's new in API v1.6.0 and the latest platform release.
Split PDF Downloads
This was a popular request. When a signing request completes, you used to get one combined PDF that included both the signed document and the audit trail certificate. That's still available, but now you can also download them seperately.
document_only_download_url gives you just the signed document without the certificate pages appended. certificate_only_download_url gives you just the audit trail.
This is useful when you want to deliver a clean signed document to your users without the extra pages, or when you need to archive the certificate separately for compliance purposes. The URLs expire after 1 hour, so fetch a fresh signing request if you need new links.
Field Type Normalization
Small quality-of-life improvement: the API now accepts both initials and initial as field types, and both textarea and text_area. We normalize them automatically so you don't have to remember which one is canonical.
This applies to template fields, signing request fields, and PATCH operations. If you've been using the "wrong" variant, your code will keep working.
Multi-Script Signature Support
This is the big one. Firma.dev now supports typed signatures in 5 different writing systems with automatic script detection.
When a signer types their name, the system detects which script they're using and renders it with a curated signature font that actually looks good. No more broken characters or fallback fonts that make signatures look like system errors.
Supported scripts include Latin/Western (English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Czech), Cyrillic (Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Serbian), Greek (Modern Greek including accented characters), Japanese (Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji), and Korean (Hangul).
If you're building a SaaS product for international markets, this matters. Your users in Tokyo, Moscow, or Athens expect their names to look right. Firma.dev handles it automatically with zero extra work on your end.
New Interface Languages: Greek and German
The Firma.dev signing interface is now available in 7 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German (new), and Greek (new).
This applies to the signing UI, notification emails, and embedded signing experiences. Your signers see everything in their language.
Upgrading to v1.6.0
If you're using API versioning with the X-API-Version header, you can start using v1.6.0 features by setting the header to v01.06.00. There are no breaking changes from v1.5.0, so the upgrade is straightforward.
If you're not pinning a version, you're already on the latest.
What's Next
We're continuing to ship based on what customers ask for. If you have feature requests or run into issues, reach out directly. Response time is usually same-day.
