Dropbox vs Firma.dev

Dropbox's €240 tier, included at €0.049/envelope

Embedded signing, your own branding, OAuth and EU data residency, all included at €0.049 per envelope with no minimum. No tier to climb, no custom quote to chase.

€65 a month. Still no embedded signing.

Dropbox Sign's entry API plan is €65 a month. It does not include embedded signing.

It also does not include your own logo, OAuth, embedded requesting, or bulk send, and it caps you at five templates. Embedded signing, the thing most people are shopping for an API to get, starts at Standard, which is €240 a month.

Yah, we're that much better. Keep reading.

A tier table worth reading closely

Dropbox Sign publishes a clear tier table, which is more than Docusign or Adobe manage, and it is worth reading closely before you commit.

What €65 a month gets you

Essentials, at €65 a month, gives you templates capped at five, an API dashboard, audit trail, multiple languages, tamper-proof documents and their client libraries. That is a reasonable list.

Circular flow connecting globe, route, 5 template icons.
"Firma.dev white-label illustration showing custom logo branding with design, email, signature, code, and team icons."

What's missing, and what it costs to get it

What it does not give you is branding. Not premium branding, not white labeling, just branding. You cannot put your own logo on the documents at that price.

You also do not get OAuth, embedded requesting, embedded signing, bulk send or signer attachments. All of those arrive at Standard, which is €240 a month, or €2,880 a year.

The EU essentials, and where Firma.dev stands instead

And the things a European buyer usually needs, EU data residency, multiple domains, premium branding and embedded templates, are not on Standard either.

Those are Premium, which has no published price at all. With Firma.dev, embedded signing, the embeddable editors, per-workspace branding and EU hosting are all included at €0.049 per envelope. There is no tier above you.

"Document with verification, security, and timer icons."

A separate workspace for each of your customers

Workspaces let your application create an isolated environment for each of your own customers or business units, provisioned through the API. Each one has its own API key, its own templates and documents, its own envelope usage, its own branding and sending domain, and its own webhook secret. Nothing is shared between them.

Embedded signing is not workspace isolation

This is not the same as embedded signing, which only places a signing screen inside your app. Dropbox Sign offers embedded signing, from €240 a month. What we could not find is per-workspace isolation with independent keys, at any tier.

My CTO has said wonderful things about just how easy it was to integrate. We love the ability to silo different electronic signatures for different clients.

Joshua De La Rosa, Co-Founder and CEO, Lendrose, who moved from Dropbox Sign

Creating a workspace is a single call to POST /workspaces, and keys rotate per workspace, so revoking one customer's access never touches another's. Usage is counted per workspace, so if you bill your customers for their own signing volume, the numbers are already seperated for you.

Integration

Creating and sending a document is one authenticated call.

const response = await firma.signingRequests.createAndSendSigningRequest({
    "name": "Employment Contract - John Doe",
    "document": "JVBERi0xLjQKJeLjz9MK..."
});

That returns a 201 with the request already in sent status. Authentication is your API key in the Authorization header.

We also publish two MCP servers. One of them exists so that an AI assistant can read our API reference and write your integration for you. Point Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or GitHub Copilot at it and most of this work disappears. We found no documentation MCP server from Dropbox Sign.
