Acrobat Sign vs Firma.dev

Stop waiting on a sales call to sign a document

Adobe hides its API pricing behind a quote. Firma.dev's is €0.049 per envelope, right here.

You cannot find out what Adobe Acrobat Sign's API costs.

There is no rate card. Production access is quoted individually. If you want to know whether it fits your budget, the first step is a conversation with a salesperson, and the second step is waiting.

Ours is €0.049 per envelope, which is roughly 5 cents. That number is on this page because it is the same number for everybody.

You don't need to be a developer for this

Most comparisons on this site are written for engineers. This one probably is not, because most people evaluating Adobe are not shopping for an API, they are trying to stop chasing paperwork.

From $230 a month to $14

Splendid Consulting is an accounting firm in Toronto. They were paying about C$230 a month for 200 signatures, moved to Firma.dev, and now pay about C$14. Their operations lead built the whole thing himself, using AI, and he does not write code.

As a non-coder, I did all the building myself. It took like a day with AI. It wasn't that much challenging.

Yavuz Mert, Operations Lead, Splendid Consulting

That is a 94% reduction, and nobody filed a purchase order to get it.

"Single API call illustration with one call to rule them all tagline."

One API call, or none at all

If you do want to hand it to a developer, creating and sending a document is one call:

const response = await firma.signingRequests.createAndSendSigningRequest({
    "name": "Employment Contract - John Doe",
    "document": "JVBERi0xLjQKJeLjz9MK..."
});

We also publish an MCP server that lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or GitHub Copilot read our API reference and write the integration for you. That is how a non-coder gets this done in a day.

Where your documents live

Adobe operates EU data centres, and EU storage is available. It is not automatic.

Routing your data to an EU region has to be configured during implementation, which means it is another item in a project plan rather than a default.

Firma.dev is hosted in the EU as standard, on AWS in Paris with CloudFront in Stockholm. There is nothing to configure and nothing to ask for.

Where Adobe is genuinely stronger

Where Adobe is genuinely stronger

Adobe's document tooling is far deeper than ours and always will be. If your work involves heavy PDF manipulation, forms, or the wider Acrobat suite, that is a real advantage and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

They also offer qualified electronic signatures, which some EU jurisdictions require for matters such as family law and government filings. We support simple and advanced electronic signatures.

What we offer instead is a price you can read, branding you own, EU hosting by default, and no procurement cycle between you and a signed document.
